The Hard War is a small 2-player abstract war game, where two unnamed factions are fighting a brutal civil war in a small unnamed country. Here, players will battle for control of seven different cities, by playing attack cards on opposite sides of the table - attack cards that each hide an unknown number of civilian deaths. Do you play to win by military force or do you play to expose your opponent’s crimes (and hiding your own)? Can you win before the rising civilian casualties cause the UN to make an armed intervention, ending the war and sending one of you to the tribunals?

And can you be certain it won’t be you?

In The Hard War you win by either taking 4 VP by controlling cities, or by having caused the least civilian deaths if the UN intervenes, ending the game.

The Hard War is a tug-of-war which contains elements of tactics, push-your-luck, hand management and bluffing. Due to the theme, it is recommended for mature players only.
